SHIPYARD TECHNICIAN
Applicants must have good communication skills, be able to utilize current mobile technology, and display a high level of professionalism and attention to detail in all they do. This position will perform and assist in performing Billable Shipyard Operations, as well as maintaining the general maintenance and safety of the Shipyard. They will also perform various skilled labor operations associated with all types of services TNM offers, including anode replacement, painting, and general preventative maintenance on Shipyard equipment. This position is also responsible for assisting the Shipyard Manager in monitoring the working conditions of the shipyard and Service Shop to ensure that all activity is compliant with OSHA standards and the True North Marine Safety Program. This position will assist the Travel Lift Operator by acting as a spotter during haul outs. This position will work closely with Management to enforce company health and safety guidelines, as well as inspect workspaces and products to ensure they are up to safety standards.
Job Requirements
Technical and field service experience are required for this position, as well as a thorough understanding of pleasure boats, their operation, as well as construction. Attention to safety and operational details are also required to successfully perform work. As a large portion of this job is performed outside in various types of weather, physical fitness and proper attire is important.
Specific Job Duties at TNM:
-Perform Billable Shipyard Operations (vessel haul, block, launch, quick hauls, crane operations, etc.) safely, and in accordance with TNM operating procedures.
-Pressure washing boats after haul outs
-Anode replacements
-Perform general maintenance and housekeeping activities in the yard
-Perform periodic checks and inspections of shipyard and marina grounds
-Daily inspections of equipment
-General preventative maintenance of equipment
-Lift and/or move at least 25 lbs. independently
-Be able to walk and stand more than 2/3 of the day
-Be able to use hands, reach with hands and arms for more than 2/3 of the day
-Climb or balance for more than 2/3 of the day
-Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl more than 2/3 of the day
-Work in potentially confined areas of high heat and humidity
-Work in outdoor conditions, heat and cold
-Work near moving mechanical parts
ELECTRONICS + ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
A Marine Electrical + Electronics Technician will have the ability to:
- Become certified in industry specific Marine Electronics including Raymarine, Garmin, Simrad, B&G, KVH, & Intellian. American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) Certifications including Electrical, Corrosion, and Marine Systems.
- Install, configure, operate and troubleshoot electronic and equipment.
- Setup up an efficient work area in the field to perform quality service on boats in remote locations.
- Provide onboard diagnostic evaluations, implement equipment software updates and train customers in proper operation of their Marine Electronics.
- Work from equipment manuals, network drawings, schematics and verbal instructions.
- Properly submit work orders, parts ordering forms and warranty registration information.
- Accurately maintain a schedule and demonstrate proper time keeping methods.
- Follow company policies and procedures in order to maintain a high level of efficiency and professionalism.
- Follow work space safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Work with various hand an power tools to professionally install or replace equipment

MARINE MECHANIC
We are looking to add experienced Mechanics who are driven to be the best in their field.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills related to gas and/or diesel engines. Marine training (especially ABYC) and experience is preferred, but automotive, heavy truck, or industrial mechanical experience will be considered.
- Strong troubleshooting and logical decision-making skills are essential.
- Our work is dockside in the many surrounding marinas, typically on vessels ranging from 35-65 feet with gasoline and diesel genset and propulsion (inboard & sterndrive) systems.
- The ability to work independently, as part of a team, and within company policies and safety practices will be expected.

- Update/communicate with customers as necessary
- Create estimates for necessary repair and/or replacement units

- Utilize a smart phone and tablet for email, communication, documentation, and research
