First Mate Vessel Checkout Service in Clear Lake
A scheduled vessel checkout gives busy and remote owners greater visibility into their boat’s condition before a planned outing. True North Marine provides First Mate Vessel Checkout services at marinas throughout Clear Lake, Clear Lake Shores, Kemah, Seabrook, League City, Galveston Bay, and the greater Houston area.
A True North Marine team member reviews the agreed-upon systems and visible conditions, documents observations, and reports concerns that may require attention. The service is especially helpful for owners who cannot visit the marina regularly or want added confidence before arriving at the boat.

Typical Vessel Checkout Areas
Depending on the approved checklist, a checkout may include:
- Shore-power connections and visible battery-condition indicators
- Bilge condition, pump indicators, and visible water accumulation
- Fluid levels, leaks, alarms, or other abnormal conditions
- Basic operation of agreed mechanical and electrical systems
- Marine HVAC, freshwater, and sanitation observations
- Exterior condition, lines, fenders, and visible weather concerns
- Photographs and a summary report for the owner
If a concern is identified, True North Marine can document the issue and recommend an appropriate next step.
Backed by Dockside and Shipyard Service
With owner approval, reported concerns can move directly into True North Marine’s dockside service or Clear Lake Shores shipyard process. The owner does not need to locate another provider or explain the vessel and reported issue again.
A Checkout Is Not a Marine Survey
First Mate Vessel Checkout is a practical visual and operational review based on an agreed checklist. It does not replace a formal marine survey, invasive inspection, comprehensive diagnostic service, or guarantee that every developing problem will be identified.
